Obituary

WORCESTER- William A. “Fred” Vail, Jr., 50, of 47 Bauer Street died Sunday, January 29th after being stricken ill. He leaves his father; William A. Vail, Sr. of Worcester, 2 brothers; Robert W. Vail of San Antonio, TX and Thomas F. Vail of Worcester, 7 sisters; Maureen K. Vail of Worcester, Johanna F. Pike of Charlton, Elizabeth A. Bartley and Mary A. O’Grady both of Worcester, Katherine A. McWey of Cambridge, Patricia A. Lynch of Worcester and Anne M. McGrail of Shrewsbury, many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was born in Worcester his mother was the late Katherine V. (Roughan) Vail and was a graduate of South High School. Mr. Vail was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1976. He was employed by the Worcester School Department where he worked as a custodian for several years. Previously he worked as a self employed painting contractor. He was a member of the YMCA, an avid golfer and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed traveling for hiking, camping and fishing. Mr. Vail had a special bond with his nephews and nieces.

The funeral is Friday, February 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, February 2nd from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
