NEW BEDFORD… Leonard B. Melancon, 46, of New Bedford passed away December 20, 2019 at his home.
He was the loving husband of Shannon (Simoneau) Melancon.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Sezaltina (Rapoza) Debrosse of New Bedford and the step-son of Raymond J. Melancon.
Mr. Melancon was predeceased by his biological father Leonardo Ponte.
Mr. Melancon worked as a commercial fisherman. His whole world revolved around his wife and son, Matthew Sarkes.
Along with his wife, son and mother, survivors include his brothers: Raymond Melancon of CO and Scott Melancon of New Bedford; his sister: Lynne Adams of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Friday, January 3, 2019 at 7 PM at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA 02723. Calling hours will be held Friday from 5-7 PM, prior to the service.
