YOUNG, John A. of Walpole formerly of Kilmoyley, Co. Kerry, Ireland passed away on December 28, 2019 surrounded by his family. John was known as a true gentleman. Born Listowel, Co. Kerry, Ire. on June 10, 1955; John was raised with many brothers and sisters in the countryside of Kilmoyley. John was a devoted husband and father. His boys were absolutely everything to him which honored his beloved wife, Tara. John was passionate about hurling and love to tell everyone “it is the fastest field sport!” John rose to be captain of the U21 Kilmoyley Hurling club in 1974 in which they won the North Kerry Championship as well as Captain in 1983 of the Senior Hurling Team carrying them through to the County final. John was not only center field for the ’83 match but also the ’88. John even wore the Kerry Jersey in his hurling career. Of late, John was a member of the Shannon Blue GFC in Canton attending every match his sons and their teammates played in. Loving husband of Tara (Kenny) Young. Adored father of Maurice W. and John A. “Jack” Young, Jr. both of Walpole. Devoted son of the late Denis and Margaret (Hanlon) Young. Dear brother of Nora Mai O’Mahony and husband Eddie Joe of Kilmoyley, Co. Kerry, Ire., Hanna Costello and husband Ray of Daly City, CA., Peter Young and wife Bernie of Kilmoyley, Co. Kerry, Ire., Denis Young and wife Teresa of San Mateo, CA., Breda Robertson and husband Alan of Falls Church, VA., Edward “Harry” Young, Eamon Young and Ann Young all of Daly City, CA., Beloved son in law of the late Maurice and Maureen Kenny. Admired brother in law of Diane Arnett and husband David of St. Augustine, FL., Martin Kenny and wife Angela of Bristol, CT., Christopher Kenny and wife Donna of No. Stonington, CT., and the late Claire Kenny. Also survived by his lifelong friend John Regan of Stoneham and many cherished nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral from the Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St., West Roxbury on Friday January 3, 2020 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church, West Roxbury at 11am.
