Billy Smith, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, December 26, 2019, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, December 29, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating.
Mr. Smith was born August 30, 1938, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Autmun & Lu Dell Lamb Smith. He served honorably in the United States Army. Mr. Smith was a carpenter and he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of the former Northside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Felicia Barber & Mark of Fitzgerald, Billy Smith, Jr. & Robin of St. Augustine, Florida, Jeffery Smith & Tracy of Wray and Ray Smith & Victoria of Palatka, Florida; the mother of his children, Darlene Cox of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Holly & Casey Conner, Heather Bayard, Kayla & David Smith, Zeek & Hector Smith, Dakota Smith, Dion & Regan Smith, Dustin & Kristen Smith, Elizabeth Smith and Katelynn Smith; great-grandchildren: Addison Conner, Avery Conner, Camren Blount, Tres Ellison, Londyn Ellison, Landen Gaines, Caden Smith, Rylea Childers, Emilee Smith, Callie Smith and Illa McGowan; sisters and a brother: Betty Rutherford of Fitzgerald, Mildred & Aldeen Solomon of Fitzgerald, Helen & Jimmy Davis of Fitzgerald, Brenda Smith of Fitzgerald, Eddie & Trellis Smith of Tifton and Linda & Mike Merritt of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children: Tina Marie Smith, infant twins: Teresa Smith and Charles Smith and a brother, Robert E. Smith.
The family suggests those desiring to send memorials may send them to a Hospice of the donor’s choice.
