Obituary

Michelina “Auntie Lee” Bucchi passed away peacefully at the Winchester Hospital on Christmas Day. She was 92. Born and raised in Vieste, Italy she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Raffaela (Rosiello) Palumbo. Lee came to the United Sates on November 4, 1954 as a young woman and joined her sister Maria who had come here before her. She married Fred Bucchi and settled in Medford. A talented seamstress and dress maker, Lee worked for many years with great attention to detail. She was famous for her alterations and also devoted her time to caring for the sacred linens and altar furnishings at St. Joseph Parish. In her later years she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was devoted to her nieces and nephews, both here and abroad and was also inspired to great generosity by donating money to build an orphanage in India and establishing the Bucchi School.

The beloved wife of the late Frederick Bucchi who passed away in 1992, she was a devoted sister to the late Raffaelle Palumbo, Salvatore Palumbo, Vincenzo Palumbo, Maria Corricelli, Emilio Palumbo and Giuseppe Palumbo. She was a loving aunt to Joseph V. Bucchi, Raffaella Basteri and her husband Robert, Ann Marie Chiaramonte and her husband Patrick, Guy Corricelli and his wife Cathy and their families, and the late Gina Bucchi. Lee is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Italy and Germany.


Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Tuesday, December 31st from 9 – 11 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
