Madeleine C. Gendron
1932 – 2019
Chicopee – Madeleine C. (LeBlond) Gendron, age 87, passed away on Dec. 26, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 16, 1932 in Sherbrooke, Canada, a daughter of the late Ulderic and Aurore (Forgues) LeBlond. Madeleine was a communicant of St Rose de Lima Parish. She worked at Big Y in the Deli Department for over 22 years before she retired. She was a member of the Piecemakers and was also a member of the Assumption Prayer Line. She is predeceased by her husband Guy Gendron who passed away in 2015. She leaves her son Marc Gendron and his wife Carolle of Worcester; 2 Daughters, Diane Salstead of Springfield and Lisa Heckley and her partner Laura McLain of Easthampton; 2 sisters, Laurette Rousseau and Gilberte Roy of Canada; 7 grandchildren, Erik, Stephen, Sarah, Christopher, Nicholas, Shawn and Caroline along with her beloved great granddaughter, Amilia “da pumkin”. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Trinity Home Healthcare staff for all of the care they had shown to Madeleine. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St, Chicopee. A private burial will be held at a later date.
