Obituary

J.H. Albert Fournier, 85, of New Bedford died unexpectedly on December 24, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marie Therese Cecile (Violette) Fournier.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late J.A. Alphonse and M.A. Lydia (Valois) Fournier, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Albert was a graduate of St. Anthony's High School. He later honorably served in the United States Army.

He was employed as a computer operator at Hemingway Transport for 29 years and was later employed at Tobey Hospital until his retirement.

Al was an avid bowler and loved coaching and participating in leagues. He enjoyed fishing with his son, camping and traveling.

Survivors include three children, Evelyn Rivet and her husband Robert, Marc Fournier and his wife Stacy, and Denise Reiniche and her husband George; four grandchildren, Meaghan Tully and her husband Donald and their son Isaac, Timothy Rivet, Bethanie Silva and her son Derek Reilly, and Jacob Silva and his daughter Camryn Silva; several special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, "Frenchie", Armand, Roger, and Raymond Fournier, Lucille Devoll, and Simone Jacques.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford, MA 02740. Burial will be private.
