PORTER- Anne T. Schofield, age 80, passed away on Dec. 22, 2019 at Central Maine Medical Center.
Her journey began on May 29, 1939 in Belmont, MA.
In 1961, Anne graduated from McLean Hospital School of Nursing, in Belmont, MA. She worked at Worcester State Hospital as the Assistant to the Director of Psychiatry, and later became Administrator of multiple Psychiatric units. Anne helped establish the "In-Service" education department and began to teach Psychiatric nursing at Worcester State Hospital and Hahnemann Hospital, while attending Clark University. But the charm of Maine was calling and she moved to Maine in 1968 and settled in Porter, Maine. She enjoyed working with the people at Vulcan Electric, The Coffee Orchards, and the Shoe Shops in Fryeburg, Maine. This shift from nursing helped her to realize that hard work with great people became an enormous center of Joy in her Life. Anne found happiness in creating walking sticks from the Woodlands of Maine, baking sweet goods, cooking savory meals, tending to the vegetable garden, and sharing the sweet rewards with her closest friends and family. Anne enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and begins her journey with a parting message..."And now, the unkown journey begins. So, my friends, put your hands together, clasp in happiness, smile and celebrate the Journey"...may she rest in Peace.
She is survived by her nieces: Lynn of Cape Elizabeth; Wendy and Debbie of MA.
Anne is pre-deceased by her brother Edward in 2003, mother in 1987 and Dad in 1943.
Arrangements will be private.
