Joseph Szabo, 73

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Joseph Szabo, age 73, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Deborah M. (D’Abreu) Szabo, to whom he was wed for twenty-five years.

Born in Boston, MA on July 28, 1946, he was a loving son of the late Joseph and Marion (MacLeod) Szabo.

Joe grew up in Mansfield and was educated in Mansfield Public Schools. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country for five years as a member of the United States Air Force.

Mr. Szabo had made his home in Mansfield for most of his life and prior to retiring, had worked for many years as a truck driver for the Hallamore Corporation in Holbrook.

Joe’s hobbies included fixing cars and mechanical work in general. He loved spending time with family and along with family members had built homes in the Mansfield area.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Alyssa Parker and her husband Garth of Mansfield, Joseph Szabo of Texas and Amy Perry and her husband Richard of Virginia. He was the dear brother of Sharon Gleason and her husband Mark of Brewster and the late Marie Burt, Nancy McNeil-Gallagher and Ronald Szabo. He is also survived by his 6 cherished grandchildren, as well as his nieces and nephews.

Burial, along with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date and time to be announced. Visiting hours are omitted
