EFFINGHAM, NH- Geneva Elizabeth (Edwards) Thompson, age 80, passed away on Dec. 22, 2019 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Effingham, NH, a daughter of the late John and Helen (Stevens) Edwards and was educated in Effingham schools.
Over the years, Geneva was employed at Dunkin Donuts and most recently worked with elderly people in home care. She also was a caretaker for the Little Foundation at the Province Lake Golf Course.
She will always be remembered for her love of family most importantly and the enjoyment she had knitting, sewing, being on her computer, playing cards, and doing picture puzzles. Geneva was also a great cook and was known for the best baked beans and pies.
Geneva was Selectman for the Town of Effingham, served with Women’s Auxiliary of the Effingham Fire Department, and was also a library trustee, librarian and member of the historical society in Effingham.
She is predeceased by siblings- Lewis, Marvin, and Phyllis.
Geneva is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years- Richard Thompson; children- Dana M. Thompson of Merrimack, NH and Perley E. Thompson of Effingham; siblings- Virginia, Roberta, Bernard, Lawrence, Marion, Richard, Keith, John, Donald, and Philip; grandchildren- Kyle, Jessie, and Dana Jr.; several great grandchildren; and a sister in law- Susan Bates Armstrong and her three children.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at Center Effingham Cemetery.
