Obituary

Thelma E. (Gallant) Melendez, 71, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly at the NSMC / Salem Hospital on Sunday, December 15, 2019. She was the wife of the late Carlos Melendez.
Born and raised in Ipswich, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Florence T. (Gallant) Gallant. Over the years, Thelma had a varied career. She first worked in housekeeping for Best Western and later for Boston Acoustics in Peabody, to name but a few of her places of employment.
Thelma was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and her cat Sweet Pea. She loved all animals and was especially fond of Dunkin Donuts coffee and the Salem Willows. Thelma was a born again Christian who served the Lord for over 28 years. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Michael A. Leger and wife Carlina of Peabody, John P, Leger and wife Joanne of Ooltewah, TN, her daughters, Carol A. Womack of Salem and Cristina M. Urbanski and husband Thomas of Beverly Farms. In addition, she leaves 14 grandchildren as well as her brother, George L. Gallant, who lives and works in China and a niece and a nephew.
Relatives are invited to her visiting hours on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [ Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 7:00 with her funeral service to be in the funeral home at 7:00 P.M.
