Tillman Roberts, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, December 13, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, December 15, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and the Rev. Kenny Croft officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
Mr. Roberts was born March 18, 1932, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late Jim & Ella Bea Jones Roberts. He was a 1949 graduate of Irwin County High School. He retired as superintendent with J.E. Hill Construction, where he worked for 32 years. He enjoyed replacing handles on tools and met many people while doing this craft. He never met a stranger and always enjoyed telling stories and spending time with his family. He loved his church and was proud of the work done in the community and around the world at Christian Fellowship.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Frances Roberts of Fitzgerald; children: Larry W. (Debbie) Cobb, Bill J. (Nabila Covington) Cobb, and Anne C. (Cam) Jordan, all of Fitzgerald; Jon C. Cobb of Alpharetta, Susie M. (Kevin) Davis of Dallas and Allen (Laura) Martin of Powder Springs; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister: Carolyn Hobby of Wray; two brothers: Frank “Pee Wee” & Rita Roberts of White, Georgia and Clifford & Brenda Roberts of Calhoun; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Roscoe Roberts and four sisters: Doris R. Kilgore, Estelle Aycock, Odelle Reynolds, and Evelyn Royal.
