Meredith-John Bruce Moyer, 77, formerly of Laconia, died at Hanover Terrace Healtcare Center in Hanover, NH Sunday afternoon, January 29, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Ray L. and Helen (Gould) Moyer. He was raised in Illinois and attended Maine Township High School in Des Plaines, Illinois. As a young man John served our country in the Navy and Coast Guard. He had been a resident of the Lakes Region for the past 35 years.
Prior to his retirement, John worked for the State of New Hampshire within the Data Processing Department as a Computer Systems Specialist. His hobbies included woodworking, coin collecting and traveling. He enjoyed playing poker with his family, and was a great financial contributor to those playing.
John was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Mary E. (Snow) Moyer in 2002, four brothers, Lyle, Evan (Pat), Alan, and Carl, and one sister Frances.
John is survived by four sons, Matthew Moyer and his wife Jan of Goffstown, NH, Gregory Moyer and his wife Paula of Gilford, NH, Michael Moyer and his wife Robin of Belmont, NH, and Randall Moyer and his wife Tracey of Port Arthur, TX, three daughters, Michele Horner and her husband Jeff of North Kingstown, RI, Sandra O’Riordan and her husband Steve of Laconia, NH, and Nicole Murray and her husband Jim of Laconia, NH, one brother, Paul Moyer and his wife Judy of Ohio, fourteen grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. He also leaves behind his four-legged companion Scamper.
A private family service was held. There were no visiting hours. Burial took place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH.
