Obituary

Henry L. Brassard, 82, of East Falmouth died Saturday January 28, 2006 at Falmouth Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Thelma G. (Lemaire) Brassard and Madella (Doyle) Brassard.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Napoleon L. and Laura (Robin) Brassard, he was raised in New Bedford and lived in Mattapoisett many years before moving to Falmouth.

Mr. Brassard was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford.

He was formerly employed by J. I. Paulding and New Bedford Rayon.

Mr. Brassard served in the US Army Air Corps as a sergeant during World War II. He flew 19 bombing missions over Germany in a B-24 and served as the tail gunner. He was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Brassard enjoyed travel, cooking, story telling, wall paper hanging, his cat Max and watching NASA shows on television.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a hero to his family.

Survivors include his 4 daughters, Muriel J. Tice, and her husband Thomas, of East Falmouth, Lorraine D. Goldsmith, and her husband William, of Fairfax, VA, Cecile B. Corriveau, and her husband Albert, of Burlington, VT and Diane T. Peterson, and her husband Robert, of Copperopolis, CA; a brother, Lionel J. Brassard of New Bedford; a sister, Rita Wilkie of East Hartford, CT; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Charles Brassard, Raymond Brassard, Roland Brassard, Sr. Blanche Brassard, P.O.M., Sr. Therese Brassard, P.O.M., and Yvonne Brassard.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday February 1, 2006 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday January 31, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery.
