Clara (Talavera) Jorge, 58, of New Bedford died Friday July 5, 2002 at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness. She was the wife of Santiago Jorge, and daughter of Perfecto and Catalina (Vargas) Talavera.
Mrs. Jorge was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and had lived in New Bedford for the last 45 years.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church on Sycamore Street.
Mrs. Jorge was formerly employed at Sacred Heart Home in the housekeeping department until her illness. She had also worked at the former Frances P. Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband; 4 daughters, Dolores Jorge, Diana Jorge, Milagro Jorge and Daisy Jorge; all of New Bedford; 4 brothers, Gilberto Talavera, Miguel Talavera, Edwin Perez and Jorge Perez, all of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Juanita Morales, Mercedes Rivera and Milta Perez, all of New Bedford, and Carmen Torres of Lowell; 5 stepsisters, Marilyn Talavera, Betsy Talavera, Milly Talavera, Emerick Talavera and Emilse Talavera, all of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 8, 2002 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday July 7, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9.
