Cecil Eugene “Gene” Stinson, Jr., 72, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Stinson will be laid to rest at Enigma Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, December 6, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Chris Danford, Clinton Hogan, Mark Guess, Marvin Guess, David Keen and Matt Hinson will serve as pallbearers.
Born May 30, 1947 in Tifton, Mr. Stinson was the son of the late Cecil Eugene Stinson, Sr. and Mary Wylene “Tiny” Smith Stinson. He was retired from the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Barnes Chapel in Berrien County; a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Daylight Lodge, the Shriners and a proud member of the NRA.
Mr. Stinson is survived by his wife, Penny Norman Stinson of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Kyle and Jessica Stinson of Enigma; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Emory Guess of Enigma; three grandchildren, August S. McKoon, Michael Stinson, Jr. and Jared Stinson; five step-grandchildren, Maegan Luke, Brianna Luke, Lee Anna Luke, Drew Luke and Adam Luke; brother-in-law and his wife, Tommy and Denise Norman of Prospect, ME; two nephews and their wives, Marvin and Tammie Guess and Mark and Amanda Guess; one great-nephew, Garrett Guess; and three great-nieces, Tori Guess, Cassidy Guess and Kimberly Rose Guess; several cousins.
