John J. “Johnny” Baxter, 53, of Quincy died Saturday November 30th suddenly in his home. John was the beloved son of Diana (Anzaldi) Baxter of Whitman and the late John J Baxter.
He was born in Boston, grew up in Holbrook, and graduated from Blue Hills Regional Vocational Technical School in Canton. John also held a Psychology degree from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
John worked for many years in the construction business and most recently in the field of masonry as a talented Tile Mechanic.
John is well known in the Quincy community as a devoted and caring counselor for its Sober Fellowship. He dedicated himself to helping those in a pursuit of Sobriety and is described by many as always being there for those who needed him the most.
John had many favorite pastimes some of which were, fishing, spending summer days with his friends on Gun Rock beach in Hull, group trips to Vermont, and time with his family.
In addition to his loving mother Diana, John is survived by his step-father James W. Burton, his brother Mark Baxter and Kristin Maguire, his bother Stephen Baxter and his wife Susan Baxter, nephews Ryan and Nicholas Baxter, niece Kate Baxter and nephew Matthew Baxter. John is also survived by his many loving aunts and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday December 6th at 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be prior to his service from 4:00-7:00PM.
