Audrey Wright Shealey Cyr, 90, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, December 2, 2019, at her residence.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM, Thursday, December 5, 2019, at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Father Paul O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Valley Grove Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. A Rosary service will be held 6 PM, Wednesday evening, at the Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald, with Father Paul O’Connell and Deacon Ed Drexler officiating. The family will receive friends until 8 PM following the Rosary.
Mrs. Cyr was born March 3, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Norman & Emily Sweek Wright. She was a seamstress and worked for the Monarch Company, Fitzgerald underwear, H.R. Kaminsky & Sons and Irwin Manufacturing. Mrs. Cyr also worked as activities director for Fitzgerald Nursing Home and Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home. She loved to sew, cross stitch and read. She was a very devout Catholic and was always at church, often times working behind the scenes and accomplishing many tasks. Mrs. Cyr was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Barbara & Ottis Harper of Ocilla, John & Linda J. Shealey of Brunswick, Jim & Linda C. Shealey of Peachtree City and Phyllis & Kenny Purvis of Ocilla; grandchildren: Angela & Billy Paulk, Tony & Crystal Harper, Pam & Andy Paulk, Amy Brown & Aaron, Jeff Shealey & Shelli, Debra Hammock, Scott Shealey & Juanita, Kenya Ashe & John and Kevin Purvis; 22 great-grandchildren ; five great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Don Wright of Dundee, Wisconsin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert James Shealey; her second husband, David L. Cyr; a daughter, Charlene Shealey; a great-granddaughter, Nichole Harper and four sisters.
