TEWKSBURY: Albert Vasas, age 82, a resident of Tewksbury for 53 years, passed away at home on Thursday, November 28, 2019.
He was the beloved husband of Patricia C. (Steele) Vasas, who passed away on February 12, 2000.
Born in Sajopetri, Hungary on October 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Albert and Bodzan Vasas.
Al was raised and educated Sajopetri, Hungary. He immigrated to the United States in 1957, and settled in Cambridge, MA.
In 1966, he and his late wife moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their two children.
Al worked for the Perkins Institute for the Blind and the Komatsu Equipment Company until his retirement.
He enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, traveling with his late wife to Bermuda, Ireland, Disney World, and Hungary, and following the Boston Red Sox.
Al is survived by his children, Tewksbury Deputy Fire Chief, Albert J. Vasas and his wife Judith (Lane) of Tewksbury and Lisa M. Shore and her husband Richard of Plaistow, NH; grandchildren, Ryan A., Nicholas B. and Haley P. Shore, John A. and Shannon M. Vasas; and sisters, Anitza and Olga, who reside in Hungary.
Calling hours are Thursday, Dec. 5, from 4-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Friday, Dec. 6, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
