Obituary

Elder Jimmy Bedingfield, 79, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, December 1, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Elder Mike DeVane officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Elder Bedingfield was born July 20, 1940, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late William Henry & Thelma Prescott Bedingfield. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Elder Bedingfield worked as an electrical contractor for many years. He ministered as a Primitive Baptist Elder for 51 years, serving congregations in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and across South Georgia. He was an avid Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane football fan and loved eating strawberries with lots of sugar!! He was a member of Sturgeon Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by daughter: Lisa Ann Lewis of Pensacola, Florida; son: Jimmy Darrell Bedingfield & Dawn of Douglasville, Georgia; son: William Mark (Carolyn) Bedingfield of Fitzgerald, Georgia; daughter: Tammy Diane (Lee) Rawlins of Brunswick, Georgia; daughter: Melody Renee Arowood & Allen of Ocilla, Georgia and son: Joseph Alan Bedingfield of Albany, Georgia; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a brother, David Perry Bedingfield & Wayne Dupree of New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Thompson Bedingfield; and two brothers: Edward Emory Bedingfield and William Haines Bedingfield.
