Pearly L. “Buddy” Raffield, 91, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday November 27, 2019, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald, with Elder Ray Roberts officiating.
Mr. Raffield was born August 2, 1928, in Abba, Georgia, to the late Jack Ander & Pearl Barnes Raffield. He worked for 40 years in the lab at Georgia Kraft in Rome, Georgia. He moved to Ocilla in 2000. Mr. Raffield loved to travel and had visited all 50 states and 19 countries throughout Europe. He enjoyed riding dirt roads as well as gardening and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his chihuahua, Rodney, who he affectionately called “Big ‘Un”.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Carole & John Haynes of Ocilla, Alan & Susie Raffield of Elberton, and Nancy Cromer of Ocilla; grandchildren: Wendi & Danny Sewell of Rome, Amber & Steve Nix of Calhoun, Lori & Jim Collins of Sylvester, Kelly Cromer of Ocilla, Penny & Shane Roberson of Elberton, and Brenda & Jimmy Kent of Irwin County; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Loretta Raffield of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Dinah & Owen Dees of Tampa, Florida and Faye Bradley of Blackshear; a brother, Wayne & Bonnie Raffield of Covington; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives: Ruby Raffield, Peggy Pearson Raffield, and Carol Smith Raffield; and a brother, James Raffield.
