Robert C. “Bob” DeRosa passed away on Monday at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 82. Born and raised in East Boston, he was the son of the late Carmine and Anna (Pinto) DeRosa. As a boy, Bob moved to Medford with his family and lived there many years. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he owned Robert Coiffeur in Medford and later enjoyed a rewarding career in sales with John Hancock Life Insurance Company. A resident of Woburn for 25 years, he and Lorraine enjoyed the last 20 years residing in Stoneham. Though successful in his career, Bob was also a noteworthy golfer. In addition, he and Lorraine loved to travel. Over the years they travelled to Hawaii, throughout the United States, Europe and cruised the Caribbean. For several years they spent winters in St. Petersburg, FL. Bob was truly devoted to his family and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He worked hard to give his wife, children and grandchildren all the best. He was a good friend to many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
The beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Minerva) DeRosa with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, Bob was a devoted and loving father to Robin Foran and her husband Brian of Tewksbury, Robert DeRosa Jr. of Brooklyn, NY and Laurie Carney and her husband Sean of North Easton. Bob was a loving “grandpa” to Christopher, Ryan, Victoria, Zachary and Isabella. He was also a dear brother to Anna DeRosa and the late Raymond “Lefty” and Pasquale DeRosa and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Sunday, December 1st, from 4 thru 8 PM and again on Monday morning, December 2 at 9 AM followed by a procession to St Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM. Service will conclude with burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
