Despina (Vrahopoulos) Vintzileos 81, of Whitman, passed away at home on Monday November 25 with her loving family by her side, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicholas Vintzileos.
Born in Athens, Greece on July 11, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Anastasios and Maria Vrahopoulos.
Along with her husband and children, she was the owner and operator of the former “Niko’s Restaurant” of Whitman.
She enjoyed attending church, and singing in the church choir, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves behind her two sons, James Vintzileos and his wife Mary of Abington and Ernest Vintzileos of Whitman, her two grandsons Nicholas and Christopher Vintzileos both of Abington and her twin sister Litsa Ollavadesos of Greece as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was the sister of the late George and Christina Vrahopoulos.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday December 2 at 9:45 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM in the Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree. Burial will follow in the High Street Cemetery, 19 High Street, Hingham. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 1 from 2:00-5:00 PM.
