John (Jacky) Connolly, Jr. Of South Boston, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Jacky was born on December 26, 1962 to the late John T. Connolly, Sr. and Dorothy (Randolph) Connolly. He is survived by his beloved sisters and brother, Denise Leary, Dorothy and her husband Martin Manning all of South Boston, his sister Deborah and her husband James McKinnon, his brother Edward (Ed) and his wife Patricia (Sugar) Connolly all of Dorchester, his sister Judy Connolly of Wakefield and his sister Janice and her husband John Laubenstein of Fort Pierce, Fl. He truly missed his sister Diane Connolly-Zaniboni who passed away from breast cancer in 2000.
He was also the beloved uncle of Paul Leary, Judy Sweeney, Richard McCarthy, Jay Caples, Mia Zaniboni, Kara and Kelly McKinnon, Eddie, Pat, and Abby Connolly and a great uncle to Jack, Maeve and Gavin Reyes.
Jacky was a proud member of the International Longshoreman's Association, Local 800 for many years. He was also a friend of Bill where he formed great friendships. He was known around Southie as "Dapper Jack" because he was truly one of the best dressed men in Southie. He took great pride in always looking his best. He had a heart of gold. While his father was a resident at Marion Manor, Jacky dressed up like the Easter Bunny for the residents and made their day! He loved Southie to his core. He was loved and helped so many as best he could. He adored his friends, Anna Pallazolo and Millie.
He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him like everyone else. How could they not?
The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Diane Connolly-Zaniboni Research Fund at Tufts Medical Center, Tremont Street, Boston, MA or to the Gavin House Foundation, East Fourth Street, South Boston, MA.
Funeral services will be held at Casper Funeral Home located at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston on December 3, 2019 from 4-8 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
