Cornish - Carole Wambolt Crommett, 79 of Cornish, daughter of the late Charles and Jeannette Wambolt of Portland, Maine passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home that she shared with her daughter and son in law Laurie and Andrew Morrill and her sweet puppy Charlie. She was predeceased by her husband Larry M. Crommett and entered heaven in time to celebrate their 60th wedding Anniversary together. Carole enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and just recently made hats for most of her great grandchildren, including the one on the way in the spring. She has kept the children at her daughter’s childcare warm with new hats and scarves for many years, and had also knit mittens, hats and scarves for veteran’s homes and other various charities. Carole was an avid reader and had been a long time member of the Bonney Memorial Library.(The family would like to thank Cheryl Hevey for assisting mom with her reading material, especially after dad’s passing, when getting to the library was harder for her.)
Carole was also a very talented painter, with her passion being folk lore art. She loved to paint animals, many times using her beloved pets as models. She donated much of her art to different fundraisers, one being Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, which was dear to her heart. Another passion of hers was cooking. With such a large family, she had plenty of mouths to feed and lots of practice. Her specialty was her lasagna, which was requested at many family dinners. Many other people enjoyed her cooking when she and her husband ran Larry’s Variety in Kezar Falls, Maine in the 80’s. She worked many jobs in her years including sewing shoes by hand, from home, with little children under foot, making pizza at Low’s Variety in Buxton, Me., working at Vulcan Electric in Porter, Me., Sewing clothing, making jewelry, selling antiques and also home childcare to make ends meet. The greatest joy in Carole’s life by far was her large family. She raised 7 children in rural homes without ever having a drivers license, which in this day and age is unheard of. Another passion of hers was her love of politics. Like her father, she was up on everything political, and loved to spar with anyone daring to step in the ring with her, especially in the social media setting. Most of her children never dared stepped foot in that ring, but she was able to coax a few grandchildren in from time to time.
Carole was predeceased by her infant grandson Joshua Klar and her infant great granddaughter Aurora Astephen. She is survived by her only Sibling, Jeannie Dunphey of the Villages, Florida, 6 daughters, Kelly Crommett of Washington, Jan Davis and husband Butch of Chocura, N.Hampshire, Laurie Morrill and husband Andrew of Cornish,Me., Deborah Cloutier and husband Chris of Winslow, Me.,Kirsten Jordan and husband Mike of Cornish, Me., Jennifer Black and husband James of Porter, Me., and one son, Larry Crommett Jr. and wife Jennifer of Limerick, Me.
