Maria A. (Medeiros) Moore, 85, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Saturday November 23, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Lee E. Moore.
Born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Maria Augusta Ferreira and Manuel Caetano Medeiros, she immigrated to the United States in 1964. She and her family lived in various areas of this country while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force, before settling in New Bedford in 1978.
She was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
An avid traveler, Maria especially cherished time spent with her family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and yarn work. Many of her creations are proudly displayed in homes of her family and friends, and on the altars of her Church.
She is survived by three children, Terry J. Moore and his wife Robin of Lincoln, RI, Rodney J. Moore and his wife Susan of New Bedford, and Leeanna Moore and her partner Caryn Behr of Chicago, IL; her sister, Rosarinha Telheiro of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Liam and Dylan Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Manuel Caetano, Francelina Tavares, and Joao Medeiros.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday November 27th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.
