Luisa (Capone) DiIorio passed away peacefully at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center on Saturday after a brief illness. She was 87. Born and raised in Torre Le Nocelle, Avellino, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Annita (DeMinico) Capone. Luisa and her husband Paolo came to the United States in 1966, living in Boston’s North End before settling in Somerville where they lived for nearly 50 years. Luisa was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to the care of her family. She proudly raised five children and enjoyed sharing in the care of her beloved grandchildren. Luisa enjoyed the company of her large extended family and many friends.
The beloved wife of the late Paolo DiIorio who passed away in 2018, she was a devoted mother to Nino DiIorio of Florida, Franco DiIorio and Toni of Roslindale, Bruno DiIorio and his wife Norma of North Reading, Adele Harris and her husband Chris of Tewksbury and the late Robert DiIorio. She was a loving grandmother to Robyn, Christine, Robert, Paul, Carmen, Sophia, Olivia and Isabella. She leaves her dear siblings: Benjamin, Jerry, Adua, Edward, Silvana and Rosalba as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday November 27th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family on Tuesday, 4- 8 PM.
