Mabel T. (Cook) Egan, 92 of Walpole died peacefully with her family at her side on November 18. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Egan who died in 2003.
Born in Boston, July 27, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Catherine G. (Cronin) Cook, Mrs. Egan was raised in Boston where she lived until moving to Walpole 15 years ago.
She had been a City of Boston School system employee for 30 years primarily at the Clarence Edwards Middle School in Charlestown.
She had been a member of the Newman Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling and trips to the casino. Most importantly she enjoyed spending her retirement years with her grandchildren. She was a loving force and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, David A. Egan and his wife Karen A. of Loudon, TN, Charles E. Egan and his wife Regina P. of Brewster, Kathryn M. Awalt and her husband Robert B. of East Bridgewater, William J. Egan and his wife Sandra M. of Mendon, Anne L. Kelley and her husband Gregory of Walpole and Mary T. Marsoobian and her husband John of Westwood.
She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 26 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church , East Walpole at 10:00. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
