Robert W. Caron, 87, of Danvers, passed away unexpectedly, at Lahey Hospital Burlington Tuesday, November 19, 2019 with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Jacqueline C. (Levesque) Caron with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late William J. and Yvonne R. (LaForge) Caron. As a young boy he was an Eagle Scout and was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Lynn. Bob served with the Air Force in Germany and the Azores during the Korean War. He and Jackie married in 1954 while he was working at Sylvania and earning his Associate Degree at Northeastern University. In 1961 he began working as a machinist for the United Shoe in Beverly. During the early USMC years he taught tool design at the Beverly Vocational School. Bob later transferred to the engineering department at USMC as a computer programmer and systems analyst. He retired from Black & Decker in Beverly in 1993.
Bob truly loved his family and spending time with them and his very large extended family. He was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
In addition to his wife Jackie, he is survived by his daughters, Linda A. Abbott and her husband William F. of Beverly, Cynthia A. Brown and her husband Jeffrey of Dunstable, daughter-in-law, Lori Caron of Worcester, his sisters, Anita Sullivan of Peabody, Alma Tremblay and her husband Leo of Salem, Lucille Comeau and her husband Robert of Amesbury. Six grandchildren, Christopher Abbott and his wife Becky, Katelin Cassidy and her husband Kevin, Robert and Matthew Caron, Michael and David Brown as well as great-grandchildren, Riley, Kevin & Jack Cassidy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, William A. Caron and brother, Richard J. Caron.
Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, the 22nd at St. Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers at 11:00 A.M. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
