WORCESTER- Charles S. Milewski, Sr., 94, formerly of 18 Sterling St., died Wednesday, January 25, in St. Vincent Hospital. His wife of 58 years, Wanda R. (Stodulski) died November 26, 1993.
He leaves three sons, Robert F. Milewski and his wife Charlotte of Westborough, Ronald C. Milewski and his wife Dianne of Holden and Charles S. Milewski, Jr., and his wife Sharon of Douglas; seven grandchildren; seven great-grand children; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister, Chester, Henry, Eugene, and Jane Saleski. Charlie was born in Worcester son of Stanley and Czeslawa (Kolakowski) Milewski and lived here all his life.
Mr. Milewski attended Classical High School and was a machinist at Reed Rolled Thread Company of Holden, retiring in 1976. He also worked several years in restaurant businesses as a chef, assistant chef, bartender and waiter.
He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church where he worked at bingo, church bazaars, and cooked at many of their functions He was a former member of St. Mary’s Booster Club, receiving their Diamond Pin award in 1983. Charlie was a member of the Greendale Mens’ Retirement Club since 1976, serving in various capacities including Board Member and Trip Leader. He enjoyed ice fishing, and bowling, and was an avid cross word puzzle performer. Charlie enjoyed cooking for his family and others, creating recipes and passing on culinary secrets. He taught many to make “mile high” apple pie and Easter “Baraneks” and was known as “Uncle Charlie” and “Buddy” to many.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 28, from HENRY DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 27, in the funeral home.
