Obituary

SPRINGFIELD ~ Norman T. "Pepere" Landry, 87, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, November 18, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on December 25, 1931, a beloved son of the late Edgar M. and Yvonne (Janson) Landry. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received the Korean Service Medal with Three Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was employed for 33 years as a Cable Splicer and Supervisor for the Western Mass Electric Company, which later became Northeast Utilities, and retired in 1989. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Van Horn Hockey Association, both in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed woodworking, tending to his beautiful yard, birding and working on his koi pond. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Angelamaria (Tangredi) Landry. They were married on September 1, 1956 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 63 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving sons, Norman M. Landry and his wife, Tracy, of Springfield and Rick J. Landry and his wife, Patricia, of Wilbraham; his caring former daughter-in-law, Bonnie Landry of New Hampshire; his seven cherished grandchildren, Tyler Landry and his companion, Tiffany Howard, Cullen and Heather Gardner, Lauren Jackson and her husband, Kyle, Meghan Landry and her companion, Analise Rivera, Christine Landry and Laura Taylor and her husband, Travis; his six cherished great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Harper Landry, Boe and Colt Jackson and Amaya and Audra Taylor; his three dear sisters-in-law, Terri Landry of Venice, FL, Terri McGoldrick and her husband, Bill, of Deerfield and Denise Galarneau of Palmer; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Landry and Tangredi families. In addition his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved infant son, Paul J. Landry; his beloved infant daughter, Yvonne Landry; his dear brother, John Landry; his dear sister, Del Landry; his dear brother-in-law, Albert Tangredi; and his two dear sisters-in-law, Annamay Moriarty and her husband, John, and Sandra Scott. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial with United States Marine Corps Military Honors will follow the Mass at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
