Carol A. Hinkle, 73

Dateline: Brockton, MA

Carol A. (Gulan) Hinkle, age 73, of Brockton, formerly of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the beloved wife of Donald G. Hinkle, to whom she was wed for the past fifty-two years.

Born in New York City, New York on May 22, 1946, she was a loving daughter of the late Claire A. (Shields) Gulan.

Carol grew up in Mansfield and was a 1964 graduate of Mansfield High School. She furthered her studies and was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, as well as additional college studies.

A resident of Brockton for over twenty years, Mrs. Hinkle had been employed for the past fifteen years as an executive assistant at Bascom Turner Instruments in Norwood.

Carol was a former member and past secretary of the New England Women’s Bowling Association. She was an avid mystery book reader and loved spending time with family and cuddling with her cats Hurricane and Cuddles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Richard Hinkle of Brockton and Terri Hinkle and her companion Jeff Hill of Attleboro. She was the dear sister of Peter Gulan and his wife Jean Sullivan of North Carolina, Margaret (Margot) Shields, Esq. of New York and the late Jean Gulan.

She was the cherished aunt of Patrick Gulan, wife Jennifer, Timothy Gulan, wife Kat, John Gulan, wife Sarah, Barbara Gulan, and the late Sheila Gulan. Also survived by Barbara (Hinkle) DuBois, Sue Snook and David Snook. Also leaving behind 5 great nieces and 4 great nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, November 21st from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield MA 02048

Services, along with burial at Saint Mary’s Cemetery will be held privately at the convenience of Carol’s family.
