Obituary


Lila (Gardner) Coyle, 78,of Hanson, formerly of Abington, passed away on November 12th after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon B. Coyle, Jr.

She was born in Quincy, daughter of the late Kenneth and Emma (Dunbar) Gardner and a graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1958 and also a graduate of Massasoit School of Nursing.

Lila was a resident of Abington for twenty years, before moving to Hanson in 1980.She worked as a nurse at the South Shore Hospital and was a realtor for Jack Conway Realty of Hanson for many years.

Lila was active in the community and served as Chair of the Hanson Zoning Board of Appeals for many years. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and was a proud member of the Crosstown Quilters Guild of Weymouth. She also enjoyed singing and performing, whether it was the church choir or the Massasoit Community College musical or her Assisted Living facility’s Kazoo Band (which she formed and led), you could always count on Lila to shine in the spotlight.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth Coyle and his fiancé Michelle Christian of Abington, Mark Coyle and his wife Jeanne of Charlestown, ME and Craig Coyle of Abington, her granddaughter Kendra Hobart and her husband Adam of Whitman, her sisters Laura Palmieri and her husband Billy of Hanson and Florence Murphy of Acworth, GA, her half-brothers George Gardner, James Gardner and his wife Janet both of Franklin.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 20th at 7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St ( Rt 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visiting hours will be prior to her service from 5:00-7:00PM. Burial will be private in the Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
