John E. McCormack, 86

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

John E. “Jack” McCormack, age 83, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Wingate at Norton. He was the beloved husband of the late Lois (Churchill) McCormack, to whom he was wed for fifty years at the time of her death on February 26, 2009.

Born in Brockton, MA on May 16, 1933, he was a loving son of the late Raymond L. and Anna V. (Maguire) McCormack.

Jack grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Boston schools. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past fifty-two years and prior to retiring was the proud owner of A & M Leasing in Mansfield, a company he operated for over twenty-five years.

A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Jack loved spending time with family and truly believed he was entertaining them with his singing and dancing. He enjoyed playing the lottery and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his witty one-liners.

He is survived by his devoted children: Susan L. Moran of Mansfield, Steven J. McCormack and his wife Kelly of Westport and Kelly A. McElreath of Upton, who was pre-deceased by her husband T. Kevin McElreath. He was the cherished grandfather of Kirsten, Danielle and her fiancé Jared, T. Daniel, Casey and his wife Kate, Andrew, Tyler and Meghan and was the adoring great grandfather of Salem, Gage, Creek, Jared and Jack. He was the dear brother of Sheila MacLean of Marshfield, Bruce McCormack and his wife Joan of Middleboro and was pre-deceased by six siblings. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 18th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at The Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

In lieu of flowers, Jack’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, Rhode Island 02904.
