Donald J. Jarvis 87 of 148 Warwick St. Woonsocket died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of Gertrude (Mailloux) Jarvis. Mr and Mrs Jarvis celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary June 1, 2005. Mr. Jarvis was born in New London, CT a son of the late Frank C. and Teresa E. (George) Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis was a printer for Samuel P. Harris Inc. in Pawtucket from 1954 until his retirement in 1987. For many years Mr. Jarvis worked part-time as a motion Picture Projectionist at several area Theaters and Cinemas including the former Four Seasons Cinema in East Providence. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the VFW Post # 115-19 in Woonsocket. Mr. Jarvis served on the Steering Committee for the RI Geographic Bee for sixteen years.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Paul D. Jarvis of Garland TX and a daughter Patricia M. Jarvis of Woonsocket. He was also the brother of the late Llyod Jarvis and Joseph Jarvis.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
