Obituary

Thomas L. “Tom” Ucci, 83, of Hartford Avenue, Johnston, passed Monday, November 11th surrounded by his family in Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Constance “Connie” (DelGizzo) Ucci. They had been married for over 63 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Luigi and Frances (DeLucchio) Ucci. He had been a lifelong resident of Johnston. He had been a graduate of LaSalle Academy, Class of 1953.

Thomas was a Driver for the former Almacs Grocery Store and the Shop Steward for Teamsters Local 251. He had also been Director of Buildings and Grounds, Town of Johnston. He was a lifetime communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church, a Life Member of Johnston Hose Company 3 and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Dillon Council. He was an active volunteer with the Johnston Senior Center. He had been active in all Johnston town events and activities, including serving as Town Sargent, serving on the Johnston Town Council and serving as the Town Council President.
Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was most precious to him.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Thomas L. Ucci, Jr., Assistant Chief, JFD (retired) and his wife Patricia of North Providence, Pamela J. DelPonte and her husband Peter of Johnston, Susan M. Mansolillo, Johnston School Committee and her husband Louis of Johnston and Representative Stephen R. Ucci and his wife Dina of Johnston. He also leaves his grandchildren, David Laferriere and his partner Eileen Doyle, Sheri (Laferriere) Farrell and her husband Zack, Christine (Del Ponte)Paulson and her husband Eric, Amanda (Del Ponte ) Merluzzo and her husband Michael, Alisa (Mansolillo) Cimini and her husband Matt, Jeni Mansolillo and Gianna Ucci. He also leaves his seven great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 14th at 10am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13th from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church Memorial Fund, 4 Lafayette Street, Johnston, RI 02919-2712
