AGAWAM ~ Peter E. Karam, 82, of Agawam, was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 8, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on February 3, 1937, a beloved son of the late Edward M. and Mary T. (Shahum) Karam. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Springfield Technical High School and had lived in Springfield for many years before moving to Agawam in 2006. He was employed as a barber for over 56 years and had owned and operated Hair Today on Page Boulevard in East Springfield, retiring in 2013. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Church, both in Springfield. He was a longtime bingo caller at Saint Anthony’s and was a member of the Lebanese American Club and the Boys and Girls Club, all in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed playing cards, watching the Boston Red Sox and visiting the Teletrack, Foxwoods Casino and the MGM Springfield Casino. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, his friends and most especially with his grandchildren. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Marianne T. (Langone) Karam. They were married on October 12, 1963 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 56 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Ted Karam and his wife, Kristin, of West Suffield, CT, Leanne Moussette and her husband, Steve, of Southampton and Tony Karam and his wife, Kelly, of Wilbraham; his seven cherished grandchildren, Josh, Emily and Grace Karam, Chelsea and Stevie Moussette and Michael and Madison Karam; his dear brother, Gene Karam and his wife, Joan, of Agawam; his brother-in-law, James Langone and his wife, Chiqui, of Vero Beach, FL; his three dear sisters-in-law, Angela Dowd of West Springfield, Christine O’Connor and her husband, Ed, of Springfield and Barbara Cummings and her husband, Ned, of South Carolina; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Karam and Langone families. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother-in-law, Timothy M. Dowd and his dear sister-in-law, Joyce Agen. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His burial will be private at the convenience of his family.
