…U.S.A.F Veteran, retired Draftsman; 76
TEWKSBURY – Robert William “Bob” Rose, age 76, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, November 10, at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, after courageously battling COPD for several years. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Jacqueline M. “Jackie” (Port) Rose, with whom he had celebrated a fifty-first Wedding Anniversary this past June 23 rd.
He was born in Revere, the son of the late William and Helen (Skoglund) Rose, raised in Somerville, and graduated from Somerville High School with the class of 1961. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, and served in Korea, honorably discharged in 1968 as an Airman 1 st Class. He studied drafting at Wentworth Institute in Boston, and earned an Associates Degree.
He began his career at the Quincy Ship Yard as a boiler technician. He worked most of his career as a draftsman at Analogic in Peabody, and finished his career at PrePress in Billerica.
He and Jackie lived in Malden before moving to Tewksbury in 1977. In their early retirement, they lived in Spring Hill, Florida, before coming back to Tewksbury in 2006.
Bob was a former member of the A.F. and A.M. Malden Lodge, and was a skilled bowler. He also had a soft spot for animals, and always had a family pet to come home to, most recently his furbaby girl Chihuahua “Bella" who was his loving, devoted, companion.
Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Carrie-Ann Williams and her husband Paul of Tewksbury, and David P. Rose and his fiancé Jessica Ayers of Leominster; five adored grandchildren, Alex, Michael, Evan, Nathan, and Celeste; a sister, Trudy Fortunato and her husband James of Raynham, Ma; many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
Visiting hours Friday, Nov. 15, from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
