Salem: Sarkis Sarkisian, Sr., age 79 of Salem died Monday evening at the NSMC Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary (Naroian) Sarkisian with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born and raised in Salem he was the son of the late Harry & Virginia (Godjikian)Sarkisian.
A veteran of W.W. II, he served in the Pacific with the U.S. Navy. He was a retired auto mechanic for the J.J. Nissen Baking Co, and was a life long resident of Salem. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Sarkis Sarkisian, Jr. and his wife wife Carol of Peabody, David A. Sarkisian and his wife Susan of Danvers, 2 daughters: Deborah Christopher of Salem, NH, and Cheryl A. Sarkisian of Salem, MA, 1 brother: Ara Sarkisian of Clearwater, FL, 5 grandchildren: Jason, Gary & Nicholas Christopher, Sarkis & Samantha Sarkisian. He was predeceased by a sister: Sarah Goolkasian and a brother: Arthur Sarkisian.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service on Friday, January 27th at 1 pm in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem [Rt. 114 / 1-A]. Visiting hours will precede his service from 11 am to 1 pm.
