Ronald Gonsalves, 74 of New Bedford died October 31, 2019 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Susan F. (Snell) Gonsalves.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late William Gomes and Sylvia B. (Gonsalves) Taylor, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
He was formerly employed as an industrial instructor with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Gonsalves served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Mark D. Gonsalves and his wife Marianne of Dartmouth and Lance J. Gonsalves of New Bedford; a daughter, Tiffany D. Gonsalves of Vero Beach, FL; and Kim O'Brien of Fairhaven who was like his daughter; 3 grandchildren, Natalie, Juliet and Mason; and Even Sherman who was like his grandson; several brothers and sisters; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Savannah Gonsalves.
His private arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
