OLD ORCHARD BEACH- Pamela Jean Graffius was born October 27, 1955 and went home to be with Jesus on October 29, 2019. Pam had valiantly battled ovarian cancer for the past 7 years and passed peacefully with her family close beside her. She was a much loved daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her smile and generous spirit inspired us all. We loved her creativity and desire to leave beauty and joy wherever she went. She was a talented watercolor artist and many of us still enjoy her paintings. Pam was the best auntie any child could have; her nieces and nephews adore her. Even when she wasn’t feeling well, she always had time for others and we never heard her complain. She deeply loved her family and friends and found ways to brighten their days with little unexpected gifts and notes. Pam graduated from Windham High School in 1974 , Word of Life Bible Institute in 1975 and spent a year serving at Word of Life in Germany. She attended Andover College and USM as well. She worked for Jim and Louise Falt at Kennebec Marine Company prior to working with her dad and then owning her own business in North Windham, Squirrel Crossing (formerly The Barn Antiques). In recent years, she worked for Chalmers Insurance/NAHGA Claims Services in Bridgton, faithfully working from home when she couldn’t go to the office. Pam was an active member of Community of Grace Church (formerly Payson Park Evangelical Free Church) teaching Sunday School and mentoring others for many years. She loved visiting Portland Head Light, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation. She also loved researching her genealogy, baby goats and sheep, fall, birthday road trips with her sister and eating grape-nut ice cream. Most of all, she had a deep and abiding faith in God. She lived each day with the confidence that Jesus would carry her through and carry her home when the battle was over. She is survived by her parents, Carl and Betty Graffius of Portland,ME; siblings: Wayne and Rosemary Graffius of Port Alsworth AK; Carlene and Byron Chute of Casco, ME; Steve and Laurie Graffius of Gray, ME and Jonathan and Courtney Graffius of Portland,ME.; as well as ten nieces and nephews and their families.
We want to thank MMP Women’s Health Gyn/Oncology Center in Scarborough, especially Dr. Tarraza, Dr. Small , Hans Bowder, NP and all the nursing staff as well as the Infusion Center staff and Hospice of Southern Maine for their compassionate care.
