Mary Martha Gately, 82, of East Walpole , died October 27 in the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Canton.
Born in County Kildare, Ireland, July 29,1937, the daughter of the late Patrick P. and Mary Theresa (McCarthy) Gately, Miss Gately was a lifelong East Walpole resident.
Miss Gately had been a medical secretary at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and the New England Floating Hospital.
Martha enjoyed walking, and animals. She loved her cats and the birds in her backyard which she enjoyed watching and feeding.
She is survived by her brother Paul J. Gately and his wife Mary Lou of Canton and was the sister of the late John B. Gately and Frances A. Gately.
She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Deirdre Apolito, Matthew Gately, Mary Ann Post, Patrick Gately and Bridget Gately.
Her memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, East Walpole on Saturday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m.
