Obituary



William "Willie" J Godeck, 100, passed away on Tuesday October 29, 2019 at Brentwood in Yarmouth ME with family close by.

He was born in Springfield MA on August 12,1919, and at 18 he joined the Army (the Navy wouldn't take him because he was too short). He served during WWII in Germany and was later stationed on Peaks Island as a telecommunications specialist. He loved Peaks so much that he lived there for several years and became quite good at lobstering with his boat he named "little one"

He also lived in Westbrook ME retiring from SD Warren in the 80s, was a volunteer firefighter and lifetime member of the American Legion Post #197 where he enjoyed playing poker with friends and fellow members.

Pre-deceased by wife Gertrude Godeck then girlfriend Lillian Hoar and son William E Godeck.

He will be missed by daughters: Violet Gold, Chesapeake VA, Patricia Foote, Westbrook ME, Audrey Godeck, Buxton ME and son James Godeck, Portland ME.

Granddaughters: Tina Daniel, Vickie Daniel, Evelyn Gowen, Therese Foote, and grandson Jacob Gold.

Also 7 great and 4 great great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post #197 In Westbrook ME on November 9, 2019 at 12 noon.
