James Eugene Glover, 83, of Ty Ty passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Mark Oliver officiating. A eulogy will be given by Alan Parrish. Mr. Glover will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, November 1, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Brian Glover, Alexander Glover, Donald Willis, Stacey Willis, Ben Tyson and Ron Hooks will serve as pallbearers.
Born July 24, 1936 in Ty Ty, Mr. Glover was the son of the late James Henry Glover and Jesse Galloway Glover. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera Ilene Medders Glover. He received his Associates degree from ABAC. He retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. After retiring, he operated a cattle farm for the past 26 years. He grew up and has always lived at the Glover family farm near Ty Ty. He was an active member of the Ty Ty United Methodist Church, where he led singing. He was a past president of the Tiftarea Cattlemen’s Association and was active in other agricultural activities in the community. He enjoyed restoring antique farm equipment and displayed them at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture. He also served in the Georgia National Guard.
Mr. Glover is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and LaUna Glover of Smoke Rise, Georgia; and one sister, Sarah Glover Willis of Ty Ty.
