On Saturday, October 26, 2019 Emerita Negron Torres passed away at the age of 94 after a long beautiful life. Emerita was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on September 21, 1925 to Juan Negron and Aracelis Rosario. Emerita grew up in Aibonito and worked in the tobacco fields. She was always a very busy young woman and helping her parents raise her brothers and sisters. She met her husband Martin Torres In Aibonito and married soon after. Martin and Emerita raised 12 children together and were married for over 70 years. She enjoyed raising her children and took great pride in doing so. One of her favorite activities was going to church on Sundays and bringing all the children with her. She also loved to cook or at least with 12 children had to. In 1969 Martin and Emerita moved to Dorchester at Columbia point. Emerita was predeceased by her husband Martin and her sons Jose and Hector Torres. She is survived by her children Maria Rivera and her husband Jose of Dorchester, Gloria Negron of Dorchester, Ada Torres of Roxbury, Victor Torres of Florida, Carmen Torres and her husband Andres Moreno of Dorchester, Ana Torres of Dorchester, Angel Torres of Maine, Nancy Torres and her husband Angel Ortiz of Puerto Rico, Luis A Torres of Winthrop, and Luis G Torres and partner Sean Jackson of Roslindale, Daughter-in-law Carmen Rivera of Dorchester. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Tuesday October 29 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be scheduled in Puerto Rico at a later date. Her family request that flowers be sent to Brady and Fallon funeral home as Emerita Loved brightly colored flowers or donations to be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s foundation.
