New Bedford – Glen Grimes, age 73, of New Bedford, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital with his family by his side after a long illness with Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Pacheco) Grimes of New Bedford. They had been married for 50 years.
He was born in New Bedford, MA to the late Olive (King) and George Grimes. Glen worked as a New Bedford Firefighter for 35 years, New Bedford Traffic Commission for 10 years, owner of G&G Design with his wife Carol and was known as the button man. Glen was a member of the New Bedford Democratic Committee, where he was a Sgt. of Arms, he was a volunteer of the Whaling City Festival for 20 years and was in the United States Coast Guard for 4 years.
Glen is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Lisa and her significant other Matthew White, his beloved grandson Zachary Glen, brother in law David Pacheco and his wife Bonnie and 2 nephews John and Thomas Pacheco.
Glen’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral will be Wednesday morning, in the funeral home, beginning at 8:30 A.M. with a service to take place at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be private.
