Obituary

Helen Lee Prevatte Chaudoin, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, October 25, 2019, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, October 27, 2019, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Blane Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends Saturday, from 6 PM until 8 PM, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Chaudoin was born October 8, 1931, in Ft. Meade, Florida, to the late Joseph Patrick & Emma Liza Moseley Prevatte. She graduated from Belle Glade High School in 1949 and later graduated from Baptist Bible Institute in Lakeland, Florida with an associate degree in secretarial work. Mrs. Chaudoin was a caretaker for children in her home and also a worker and director of Nursery Rhyme Daycare. She worked for the Ben Hill County School system for 26 years as a paraprofessional. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading and being with her family. Mrs. Chaudoin was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald where she formerly taught a 6th grade Sunday school class, sang in the choir, worked in Vacation Bible School, was active in the WMU and served as the Nursery Coordinator.

She is survived by her sons: Steve (Jenne) Chaudoin of Atlanta, Larry (Sandra) Chaudoin of LaGrange; a daughter, Beverly (Brian) Gunter of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Stephen (Sarah) Chaudoin, Leslie (Nick) McNeal, Clint (Clarissa) Chaudoin, Brandelyn (Charles) House, and Benjamin (Sara) Gunter; great-grandchildren: Lydia Chaudoin, Addi McNeal, Evie McNeal, Cooper Chaudoin, Camille Chaudoin, Weston House, Wilson House, Sullivan Gunter and Isabella Gunter; the father of her children, Robert Chaudoin of Fitzgerald and two sisters: Frances Hatcher and Hazel Hicks of Okeechobee, Florida. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would also like to recognize the caregivers: Joyce Robinson, Geraldine Wright, Eveline Battle, Brenda Austin and Annie Ruth Price. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
