Irene (Silva) Benevides, age 90, of Fall River, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2019. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Benevides and daughter of the late John and Mary F. (Oliveira) DaSilva. Irene worked at the Fall River Knitting Mills and was a Lunch Lady for Watson School. She was a Liberal Club Ladies Auxiliary Member, and enjoyed, traveling, cruising, gambling, playing cards, and was known to everyone she met as Ma.
She is survived by her children: Joseph M. Benevides Jr. (wife Jane), Debra Ann Benevides Aguiar (husband John), Linda Benevides Custer (husband Jack), Diane M. Benevides Guay (husband Donald), sister: Carol Rapoza (husband Alfred), grandchildren: Christopher Deschene, Jill Benevides Petrocelli, Sarah Aguiar, Julie Benevides Valsan, Matthew Deschene, Katelyn Aguiar, Derek Guay, Johnathan Benevides, Daniel Guay, Amanda Aguiar Bermudez and Drew Guay, great grandchildren: Talia & Baryn Deschene, Julian Bermudez, Serina Deschene, and Alexandra Bermudez, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Wednesday, October 23rd here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church at 10 A.M. Entombment in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
