Lorraine Richard, 85 of Manchester, N.H. died on Oct. 17, 2019 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Revere, MA. on Oct. 23, 1933, daughter of Charles G. and Annonciade (Cimon) Richard.
Lorraine attended St. Edmund school and St. Marie High School, graduating in 1952.
Following high school she took up flying and within a few years earned her Commercial/Instrument licenses and later her Flight Instructors Certificate. Became a free lance flight instructor for 10 years, taught and prepared candidates for their private pilots and flight instructors certificates. As a member of the International Organization of Women Pilots (The Ninety-Nines) since 1972, held offices as chairman, Vice chair, secretary for the Northern New England Chapter.
Formed a flying club(CAVU) in 1978. Appointed FAA Accident Prevention Counselor in 1979.
Retired from flight instruction in 1997 and continued enjoying flying for pleasure for many more years.
She is survived by a sister, Cecile Richard Adams and her husband Pip, nephews David Provencher and wife Barbara of Falmouth, Maine, Arthur Provencher, So. Hero, Vt. Charley Farley and wife Crystal, Nashua, N.H. Jim Farley and wife Wendy, Bedford, N.H. A niece Deborah Farley, Manchester, N.H.
She was predeceased by a sister, Gabrielle(Gaby) Provencher and brother, Charles (Sonny) Richard both in 2014.
A Committal service will take place on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 1 pm in Mt Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
