Obituary Information
John J. Melchionne died Saturday at Northeast Specialty Hospital in Stoughton after a period of failing health. Born in Revere and raised in South Boston, son of the late Angelo and Philomena (Russo) Melchionne. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He then served with the US Air Force for 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was discharged as a Master Sargeant in March 1974. After retiring from his military career he was a self employed carpenter who enjoyed remodeling homes. He also enjoyed painting with oils, camping, walking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Theresa M. (McLaughlin) Melchionne, three brothers Anthony Melchionne of E. Bridgewater, Albert Melchionne of Plymouth and Ernest Melchionne of Brockton, six children, eight stepchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Charles, Frederick, Peter, Michael and Edward Melchionne, Nancy McMasters and Lucy Rideout.
